Tummaye

I'm blogging in green... well there's a significance to that.

I don't want to touch, mar, destroy the beauty, perfection, happiness of this space. Jingliang would have hated that I posted something emo on Tummaye. Even though I feel it's necessary for Tummaye to get some closure too.

So folks, no emo here, no emo in my new space.

http://tubblefubblebubble.blogspot.com

For now.

Edit: I didn't get a chance to explain what went on, what happened, and you readers might just be confused and all as to what's happening... but let me sort out my thoughts before I post anything. I'm going to book in soon, and the next time you'll hear from me here... depends. I may never come back, but if I do, it'll be to officially close this site.

I'm Alive!

Okay, I can't remember which colour was the one which I used for my previous posts and I'm too lazy to go and check, so from now on I'll blog in This Colour!

Big news, I'M ALIVE!!!!!

Army isn't too bad, been having quite a lot of fun in there! Just that during the training itself, it can be quite shag. Haha. My sergeants and officers (my commanders) are nice people, except when you tick them off. It's true that the commanders have a free flow of vulgarities, and will not abstain from unleashing their fury and might at you. So, it would be natural for me to adopt the new language haha. I'm swearing more liberally now (which I know Jingliang doesn't like :3) but of course I still behave myself.

Me? I'm not very different. Except for the sad fact that I now have little hair. It's very very practical, like after you run and you sweat like a mad dog, it dries within 2 - 3 minutes. Bathing is also made more easy, because we don't need shampoo. That said, I miss my hair!!!

Well honestly, I don't feel like blogging about Army. Mostly because there's so much happening that I don't know where to start! I've lost touch with the world. People seem to be doing so much!! For me, life kinda got put on hold/pause from the 28th Jan all the way till now.

At nights, before I sleep, I sometimes write in my diary. Some of the time it's emo stuff because I miss people, and hope for more, but most of the time it's about the fun I had in the day. I most certainly wished time passed faster though, can't wait to get Army over and done with so that I can continue with my life.

Of course, I'd like to congratulate Jingliang on the opening of her blogshop (yes I know I'm late but my stay in Pulau Tekong didn't allow me to blog). It's really nice and I'm really proud of her and what she's doing. Needless to say, I wish her all the best (earn lots of money okay).

Is it natural to want to own somebody? Like to be the only one to look at her, touch her, feel her, kiss her, smell her? Or maybe I'm being over-possessive; I realize over-possessiveness runs in my family.

Blurry

Yesterday: cape, shirt - thrifted, skirt - made

Switched for leggings afterwards because I didn't think my students' moms would be too crazy about a skirt that length

This week passed by in a flash of cheap Mexican food with Iffahness/zebra pin from long overdue care package!/tuition/barrage of skirt orders/tuition/tuition/club sandwich on 966/tuition/fabulous picnic/tuition and I'm finally breathing now. I think travelling shrinks the number of hours you have in a day.

My dad is fast becoming my closest buddy, we've been spending all our mornings together, me running, him practising taichi, me making the Milo, him making the tomato and eggs, and having real conversations, the kind that actually lead somewhere, and not generic parent-child Q&A. It's nice.

~* EUGENE BOOKS OUT TODAY *~ and I still don't know what he looks like now

Iffahness and Linettez were so, so great today it deserves a post all by itself. Till then

Greetings from Osaka

"Yesterday I went to a shrine at Abiko Town / Abikocho (我孫子町) because it was Beans Throwing Day! It is called 'Mame-something' in Japanese, in which 'mame' = name of the beans. There are several customs:

1. Children throw beans / mame at the devil / oni (鬼) to drive it away. Funny thing? According to my friend Reiko, oni is usually acted by the father / otousan (お父さん). So technically speaking, the children are throwing mame on their dad!

2. You have to eat rolled sushi / makizushi (巻きずし) (think a long tube of sushi not yet sliced into the small bite-size pieces) in the north-east-north direction and before you take your first bite, you must think of a wish you want to be granted. According to my roommate Shu Wen, you are not supposed to let anyone see you eating makizushi or your wish will not be granted, LOL!

3. Eating mame! Eat the number of mame corresponding to your age. I didn't get to eat it yesterday but my Japanese teacher Shikaura (鹿浦) brought some and passed them around in class today so I got to taste mame! It tastes a bit like kachang puteh."

"I forgot to buy bread for breakfast this morning and I am craving onigiri from Lawson (~105yen). I can't make Milo because I don't have a mug."

Email exchanges with the sister have been fun. Her telling me about various Japanese traditions, exciting people she's meeting, having fiction writing classes in Japanese, exchange student woes like not having mugs etc, and me telling her about pineapple tarts, crappy Little Nyonya spin-offs, sewing expeditions, tuition paydays, dad making good curry/pizza/salmon etc.

She sent me lots of pictures (of everything but herself might I add -_-). Japan looks beautiful. And everyone there dresses well. It must be really difficult to buy crap clothing there.

Anyway, Eugene's getting [EDITED AWAY I FORGOT HE CAN READ IT TONIGHT] from me on Valentine's Day, I'm really excited about it. I keep forgetting it's okay to write it in here because he can't read it heh heh

EDIT: JONATHAN AND HUIMIN I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS TOLD EUGENE ABOUT THE HATS!!!!!! And how timely too, right after I edited the post and was all smug that I managed to prevent him knowing in time!! -_-

Bus quirk and Iffah

Managed to survive Thursday unscathed. So having 3 classes in Katong and Bukit Panjang in the same day wasn't as bad as it sounded, and it's starting to actually seem possible to be able to keep up with it for a good while.

Shaun is very teachable, and Joey miraculously managed to get a red packet to me although I didn't even get to meet her. Huimin, now I believe niceness runs in your family.

The long bus rides allowed for very satisfying me-time, because I went armed with Jodi Picoult and a club sandwich from 7-11, and I'm just going to pretend I'm not at all bothered by the adult fare and totally getting used to it. It's actually just like TJ all over again, except 966 is not double-decked (gasp it's almost criminal) so I can't do things like have lunch/sit cross-legged/sleep lying down/do Chemistry tutorial/set up hammock for head with jacket/eat popcorn and watch Police & Thief or Maggie & Me or whatever crap Ch5 reruns they have on TV Mobile/hang out laundry (PE shirt) to dry/prune bonsai/mow the lawn/water the plants, basically set up my second home on the bus like I used to be able to do with 168. And 966 actually has enough people commuting on it to take up more than 20% of its capacity, so that's another to add on the 168 pwns 966 list.

(I cannot help but bring in IML reference at this juncture "terminal to terminal and back, life is mob tv and aircon" hi Colette)

While we're onto that, I always think encountering me on 168 and seeing the homely things I do on its empty upper deck will be enough to change a person's opinion about my mental stability. Thankfully nobody will ever have the chance to now

Chinatown with Linette today was productive, we all got something we wanted. Even Iffah did, without actually being there. And none of the purchases were fuchsia. :o

By the way Iffahness, it's starting to grow on me. You becoming an official, dictionary certified shade of pink and finally, replacing the word fuchsia in everyone's vocabulary. I'm going to use it in all the great stories I'm going to write and become rich and famous, like "her cheeks flushed a deep shade of Iffah" and "all wrapped up in gold paper and Iffah-colored ribbons" and "always the rebellious one; dyed her hair Iffah when she was 12" etc.

The Monday Song

By Marshall Lee

Tuition classes have gone up to 6 a week (still all Math) this month, with a good half of them all squeezed into Thursday, two in Katong and one in ~*Bukit Panjang*~. Do you not love how Katong is to Bukit Panjang is to 966 the same way Bedok is to Woodlands is to 168 (this only Iffahness will get). I will find a way to work around it. I'm still trying to keep up with having 4 free days a week so I can do various me-things and have time for people, but I suspect that will be down to a 3 come mid-Feb.

I'm doing all my homework now, reading all things algebra, picking out the best questions etc. All this while sitting in the middle of a hurricane-gone-by mess that is the halfway-revamped state of my room. I wanted to do the whole before/after thing but I couldn't bear to have a picture of the Before in my camera, and I'm not so sure now that the After will come at all.

Anyway, I love my dad. He's so great at everything. That includes revamping rooms, among other things like Physics and Math and making good curry and having good handwriting and being patient with my mom and coming up with Excel sheets to solve Sudoku. I think he's the best thing that ever happened to me
